"Our Languages" is a Comenius Language Project between Sinop Anatolian High School, Sinop, TURKIYE and II. Rakoczi Ferenc Favorosi School, Budapest, HUNGARY in 2006 - 2007.
Two schools from two different countries have established a partnership in a European level to build bridges between the two nations to introduce their language, culture and natural and historical landscapes.
The main aim of the project is to teach our language to our partner and learn our partner’s language in a practical way, both at school and in the everyday life. To do this, both teachers were always in contact with each other to produce and distribute the lessons and the quizzes to each other. The Turkish students were taught Hungarian by the Hungarian teachers in Budapest, Hungary in November 2006 and the Hungarian students were taught Turkish by the Turkish teachers in Sinop, Turkiye in July 2007. Before and after the lessons, the students were able to work on the lessons and the quizzes. They also spent their free time together to teach each other’s language. Before and after the visits, the students were also in contact with each other to develop their language skills.
In “Our Languages” Comenius Language Project, the students had a chance to learn their partner’s language and to teach their language to their partners. Besides, they have had an opportunity to adapt themselves to live in a foreign country.
This bilateral project which was granted by both the Turkish and the Hungarian National Agencies and the European Union has another important mission for the students’ lives. They became more aware of worldwide peace, democracy and the human rights.
“Our Languages” has encouraged both the students and the teachers from two schools to participate in another Life Long Learning Program with a great enthusiasm.
